Now that the Lighthouse Property has been transferred to the care and protection of the volunteers at the Sheringham Point Lighthouse Preservation Society, it's time to look to the future.  The Society volunteers are making plans for how to preserve, protect and use the Lighthouse and its surrounding lands – the entire Heritage Lighthouse Site.

From the beginning, the community and the Society have been working to create a "passive park" surrounding the Lighthouse – opening the land for everyone to visit, while continuing to conserve and protect the land, the public access and the historic buildings.

To do the best job possible with this task, Society volunteers are reaching out to discover how you – Society members and supporters – as well as the local community and others are using the site and what vision you see for the Heritage Site.

Please use the link below and take a few minutes of your time to complete the  COMMUNITY/VISITOR SURVEY on the Society's website.

Your views and your advice will go a long way to making this wonderful community asset the best it can be.  Thank you.

The volunteers at the Sheringham Point Lighthouse Preservation Society have begun to identify, collect, organize and catalogue pertinent materials and documents relating to the Lighthouse and its history.  This archive will store and index documents important to the community and the heritage site.  The Society volunteers are also collecting artifacts from the site that relate to its history.

THIS IS A CALL TO ALL of the Society's members, friends and supporters:  please let us know of any of any archival documents (including old photographs) or artifacts you may have in your possession.  If you would be willing to donate them (or copies of them) to the Society, to be a part of our archived collection we would very much like to speak with you about them.

We are searching for:  documents, letters, maps, old photographs, videos or film, sound recordings or any other materials (including digital files) relating to the Lighthouse, its history and its importance to the community.  If you have anything that you feel may be of interest, please contact us via our website: click here.

VOLUNTEERS:  We are also looking for volunteers to help us manage our archive and artifact collection.  If you are interested in volunteering your time on this project, please contact us via our website:  click here.

These projects are part of an initiative that is partially funded by Parks Canada and the Government of Canada. We gratefully acknowledge their support and assistance.
