Member of Parliament Praises Lighthouse Restoration
August 24, 2019 – Randall Garrison, MP for Esquimalt-Saanich-Sooke has nothing but good things to say about the restoration work recently completed at Sheringham Point Lighthouse. In his first tour of the Lighthouse Site since the restoration work was completed, Garrison praised the work of the Sheringham Point Lighthouse Protection Society, and encouraged everyone to get behind the Society to help them finish the work and maintain the Lighthouse for years to come.
Garrison has been a staunch supporter of the Society and its efforts to protect the Lighthouse for many years, and talked about how gratifying it is to see the community’s efforts paying off. “It’s been fifteen years since we first talked about this project,” Garrison said to Society Vice-President John Walls, “and it’s amazing to see what you’ve been able to accomplish. I look forward to many more years of working with you to ensure this remarkable icon of our community’s history can be conserved and will help us tell our stories for generations.”
